RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. - In celebration of Giving Tuesday and its annual holiday charity initiative, VSP Global® announced it has donated a total of $100,000 in grants to The Salvation Army, GLAM4GOOD, and Monarch School. As longtime charitable partners of VSP Global, the donations support the organizations’ work to aid individuals and communities in need, especially throughout the pandemic. Together with VSP Eyes of Hope®, these three charitable organizations have helped nearly 8,000 people in need gain access to no-cost vision care. Nearly 90 VSP® network doctors helped to provide eye care at 31 community outreach events.
“Giving back to the communities we serve is core to who we are, and it is an honor to support these three organizations who have transformed so many lives,” said VSP Global Chief Marketing Officer Wendy Hauteman. “We’re grateful for the unique services they provide and their partnership in supporting our purpose of empowering human potential through sight.”
More about VSP Global’s annual holiday charity donation recipients:
The Salvation Army A VSP Global partner for two decades, The Salvation Army assists families in need during the holidays, more critical than ever due to the pandemic, through various programs, such as food and holiday gifts for families in need, financial assistance to keep people in their homes, and shelter for the unhoused.
“On behalf of the millions of people The Salvation Army serves every year, we thank VSP Global for their continued support and this generous gift,” said Commissioner Doug Riley, Salvation Army Western Territorial Commander. “We are in a time of great need. There are so many families struggling due to the ongoing challenges with the pandemic. But because of our amazing partners, like VSP, The Salvation Army is able to keep hope marching on in communities across the country.”
GLAM4GOOD VSP Global has been joining forces with GLAM4GOOD since 2017 to expand access to vision care, clothing, and accessories for communities in need. Throughout the pandemic, VSP Eyes of Hope and Marchon Eyewear have continued to partner with GLAM4GOOD to make a difference in the lives of women and their families by providing access to free eye care and eyewear.
“GLAM4GOOD helps individuals faced with hardships like homelessness, domestic violence, illness and natural disasters; circumstances where our mission to empower dignity, hope and joy teamed with providing new wardrobes, beauty services and personal care essentials can go a long way towards setting a path forward,” said Mary Alice Stephenson, founder of GLAM4GOOD. “Teaming up with VSP Global has allowed us to offer those we serve access to eye care and eyewear that is critical to their overall health and well-being and ultimately their future.”
Monarch School Monarch School in San Diego, Calif., empowers unhoused students to achieve academic success while providing key social services and reinforcing the existing strength of their families. Since 2014, VSP Eyes of Hope has been partnering with local eye doctors to provide free vision care for their students. This year’s grant will be used for alumni scholarships to assist Monarch School graduates with college and work training programs and expenses.
