VSP Vision Named a 2023 Best Company for Multicultural Women by Seramount 

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. – For the second-consecutive year, VSP Vision^™ has been named a 2023 Best Company for Multicultural Women by Seramount, an international leader in championing diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace. The honor recognizes companies that create and use best practices in hiring, retaining, and promoting multicultural women in the U.S. 

“At VSP Vision, having a culture of belonging is not a ‘nice to have,’ it’s a must,” said VSP Vision Chief Diversity Officer Marvin Davenport. “Providing opportunities for our employees to grow personally and professionally, like through our Inclusive Leader Acceleration Program, is one way we’re working to create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.”

From 2021 to 2022, there was an increase in both women and people of color in VSP Vision’s total U.S. workforce, management positions, and vice president and above leadership roles. Most significantly, there was a 13 percent jump in management positions held by people of color and a 4.9 percent increase in vice president and above positions held by women.     

Other notable DE&I programs from VSP Vision include: 

Business Resource Groups (BRGs) are where VSP Vision employees have opportunities to build relationships, learn about different perspectives and volunteer locally in an effort to sustain a culture of authenticity and belonging. Some BRGs include, the Women’s Inclusion Network, the Black Heritage BRG, the Young Professionals BRG, the PRIDE BRG, and the Military, Veterans, and Families BRG. VSP Vision’s BRG membership increased 76% from 2021 to 2022.

Since 2003, Seramount’s Best Companies for Multicultural Women has tracked corporations’ progress in creating cultures that encourage multicultural women to join and rise through the ranks. This year’s survey continued to assess progress for women by specific racial/ethnic group as well as factors influencing that progress, including mental health, anti-racism progress, and participation in mentoring and sponsorship programs.
